Saint Cecelia Harvest Wine Dinner and Ball

Before there was a national Thanksgiving Day friends and neighbors would gather together for a harvest feast, giving thanks for the blessings of the year and the promise of the dawning new year. These feasts always included music and social dancing like the Virginia Reel. Because thus took place in November it became associated with Saint Cecelia, who in dome liturgical calendars is identified as patron of music.

At Shiloh Manor Farm we continue this old Virginia tradition.

We are partnering with Magnolias to curate a farm-to-table feast inspired by a 200 year old book on Virginia cooking by one of Patrick Henry’s granddaughters, paired with imported wines.

Musicians from Greater Washington Folklore Society will play historic tunes and renowned historic dance master Dan Gillespie will be on hand to teach and call dances. No experience necessary!
