Plant Native! Festival
The 5th annual Plant Native Festival is a celebration of the native plants that are critical to a healthy environment. Whether it is their beauty, their crucial role in restoring the food web, or protecting watersheds, native plants offer something meaningful for every member of the community. As one of the largest events of its kind in Virginia, the Plant Native Festival collaborates with dozens of vendors who offer a wide variety of regional native plants for sale, making it easy to find the right plants for your yard or garden.
For those looking to start planting natives, or longtime native planters looking for their next project, $10 vouchers usable at any of the plant vendors at the festival will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. The vouchers, distributed by the Dorey Park Farmer’s Market, were made possible by a donation from the Henrico Environmental Action Resource Team. Native trees will also be given away for free, while supplies last, through a grant from the Virginia Department of Forestry.
Need advice on landscaping with native plants? The festival will offer workshops hosted by local experts on a variety of topics. For the kids, there will be special craft tables where they will learn about native plants and the animals they support. There will also be an Insect Costume Showcase and Parade for children 12 and under, so be sure to bring the little ones decked out in their best critter costumes!
Presented by the Keep Henrico Beautiful Committee and Henrico Recreation and Parks, alongside numerous community partners, the Plant Native Festival is a great place to sprout or keep growing your love of native plants.
